Christmas in Santa Fe includes the traditional farolito stroll after dark along Canyon Road, the artistic thoroughfare that delights the eye. The luminaria is the wood fire. Farolitos are candles within paper sacks that light up the edges of sidewalks and walls along Canyon Road. For up-to-date information, consult the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper’s Christmas Day edition.

I would enjoy the New Mexico celebration. We lived for many years in the Phoenix valley and there acquired a taste for some of the culture of old Mexico. The montage from Italy is very beautiful: thank you for posting it!
Here’s a bit of Santa Fe trivia: when they use electric lights in the farolitos as they do on many of the commercial buildings, we call them electralitos. Happy Holidays! Enjoy the Farmers’ Market for me I probably won’t get back down there till Spring or Summer.

I have always enjoyed the traditions of New Mexico during Christmas. Foods that include posole, red chile, Empanaditas, chile rellenos and tamales. Photographing the farolitios or luminarias give a mystic glow to its subject. Visit my site to view my photos I took this Christmas.
